Octero 31, Thimphu: A wrap up meeting between RGoB and the joint mission for MAGIP PCR Validation and CARLEP Supervision was conducted at the Hotel Migmar. It was attended by the officials from the departments, agencies, FCBL, budget, CARLEP and IFAD under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Secretary for MoAF, Dasho Rinzin Dorji.
The two mission team has been in the country since October 15. IFAD mission specifically the CARLEP has been fielding some of the sites under project area.
The wrap-up meeting marked the closer of MAGIP that has tenured for the last five years in the six eastern Dzongkhags under IFAD Financing and also the opening of CARLEP which is a follow-up project to MAGIP. CARLEP is under the same financing house as of MAGIP which will cater to the same six Dzongkhags in the initial phase of its seven years.
Several issues and concerns were discussed in the meeting inclusive of the Mission’s findings from the field that will serve as a lesson to take for CARLEP. The need to do the Value Chain studies for dairy and vegetable and the FCBL studies were the main theme of the discussion. While the solution on who will lead the studies is yet to confirm, DoL has already begun the studies on the Dairy Value chain within the Department.
Dasho acknowledged the IFAD mission for its significant contribution to the country and also acknowledged all the participants for making the half-day event a very interactive and informative session.
