Workshop on “Dairy Processing and Product Diversification”

UntitledNational Dairy Development Centre, an apex body mandated to coordinate and oversee dairy development activities across the nation conducted a two days workshop on “Dairy Processing and Product Diversification” from 17 June to 18 June, 2014 at Mini Dairy Plant Wangchutaba. The workshop was first of its kind and was focused to provide in depth knowledge on dairy product processing for the Dairy focal officers in Dzongkhags and Regional Livestock Development Centres (RLDCs). The workshop was opened by Mr. Naiten Wangchuk, Chief Livestock Officer. The participants were from Thimphu, Haa, Paro, Punakha, Wangduephodrang, Sarpang, Chhukha, Samtse and RLDCs of Tshimasham and Wangduephodrang.

The workshop provided participants with basic dairy processing skills through adoption of appropriate technologies and improved dairy management practices particularly “Clean Milk Production” at farm level and thereafter. The participants were also provided hands-on training on Yoghurt Production Technology on the second day.

The certificates of attendance were awarded to the participants by Hon’ble Director, DoL and expressed the importance of such workshops to be held in the furture.

The workshop was funded by EU-RNRSP.
