The SAARC Agriculture Centre has initiated to recruit following regional professional positions from SAARC member countries:

  1. Senior Program Specialist (Livestock)
  2. Senior Program Specialist (Fisheries) and
  3. Senior Program Specialist (Priority Setting & Program Development)

Senior Program Specialist (Livestock)As a senior member of the division, should be able to initiate priority projects/programs and implement these in the area of livestock farming in particular and broadly in other related areas in South Asia to accomplish the responsibility of the division. These are, but not limited to; need analysis and prioritization of regional requirements of SAARC Member Countries. Develop collaborative programs in the area of animal production and related issues, GMP (Good Management Practices), SPS and environmental aspects, trade, R&D, conservation of resources, food and nutrition security, value addition and marketing system, community livestock services, trans boundary animal disease.

 

Ability to translate regional priority issues into implementable programs.

 

Prepare detail project proposal, work plan, synthesis the status reports, monitoring and evaluation of the program, progress report, working papers, annual report and others as and when required for the betterment of the livestock development in SAARC countries.

 

Involve in publication of necessary reports, policy input etc. on timely basis and development of a framework for collaboration for prevention and control of disease.

PhD in Animal Science / Veterinary discipline specialization in related areas with 12 years experience or Masters with good academic record in the above disciplines with 15 years experience, with wider exposure.

 

Person should be specialized in program/project development in the area of animal production and management, Value addition, implementation, monitoring and impact analysis of the program/projects and in report preparation and presentation.

 

Clear understanding on the regional and global context, SPS, GMP (Good Management Practice) matters, hazard analysis and technology packaging is essential.

 

Proven capabilities is initiating international linkages and securing funding and collaborative projects.

Senior Program Specialist (Fisheries)

 

As a senior member of the divisional team, should be able to perform and initiate program/activities in the area of fisheries/ aqua farming in particular and broadly in other related areas to accomplish the responsibility of the division. These are, but not limited to; need analysis and prioritization of regional requirements (also country), develop collaborative programs in the area of fisheries/ aqua farming and related issues, GMP, SPS and environmental aspects, trade, R&D, conservation of resources, food and nutrition security and value addition and marketing system, community fishery services, fish diseases.

 

Ability to translate regional priority issues into implementable programs.

Senior Program Specialist (Priority setting & Program Development)

 

As a senior member of the division should be able to perform and initiate program/activities in the area of policy issues in agriculture and related field and in analyzing impact of a program/activity implemented.

 

To accomplish the divisional responsibility should undertake measures to explore scope of joint cooperation in different fields of agriculture including material, knowledge and technology transfer.

 

Explore to implement the concept of lead country/agency based program development and implementation and leadership in international forum on issues of regional interest.

 

Ensure timely production of synthesis reports, papers etc.

 

 

PhD in Agricultural Economics / Agricultural Management / Economics / Resource Management with 12 years experience or Masters with good academic record in the above disciplines with 15 years experience with wider exposure.

 

Person should be specialized in policy planning, priority setting, program/project evaluation, implementation, monitoring and impact analysis of the program /projects and in report preparation and presentation.

 

Skills in program monitoring and impact assessment will be an additional benefit.

Common requirements:

1.      Clear understanding on the regional and global context is essential.

2.      Should be able to work in a mixed culture and in a team.

3.      Should have proven background and proficiency in written as well as communicative English.

4.      Competence in computer use is required and to be able to work independently and to produce result oriented quality output.

5.      Good communication skill at all levels (National, Regional & International)

 

Preference will be given to persons having work experience in related field as well as in the National Agricultural Research System (NARS)/ Agriculture Extension service.

Assist the Director in all activities and carry out assignments.

Any other responsibility relevant to the Centre programs.
