The Royal Government of Bhutan will be hosting and Chairing the virtual conference of the 35th Food and Agriculture Organisation Regional Conference for Asia and Pacific from 1-4 September 2020 in Thimphu. Forty-six member nations along with the private sector and civil society organisations will participate in the event.
The arrival of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has had a great impact on agriculture and food systems in Asia and the Pacific, a region already beset by climate and weather-related challenges, such as droughts and flooding. The conference will start with the Senior Officers Meeting on 1 September 2020 at 10 am (BST) followed by the Ministerial Sessions from 3-4 September 2020.
On 3 September 2020, inauguration of the Ministerial Level Meeting will start at 10:30 am (BST) where the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bhutan will deliver a keynote speech followed by the opening speech by the Hon’ble Minister, MoAF.
