29 October 2015, Thimphu: A two-member delegation from the United Nations Development Programme Sustainable Development made a courtesy call on Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Minister of Agriculture and Forests yesterday afternoon.
The delegation consisting of Mr. Nik Paul Sekhran, Director/Chief of Profession, Sustainable Development, Bureau for policy and Programme Support, UNDP HQ, New York and Mr. Scott Arthur Standley, Economist, UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub was accompanied by UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Ms. Christina Carlson.
The delegation is in the Country to engage with the government on Agenda 2030, articulating its origins, conceptual foundations, and its content, including 17 SDGs, to engage with key stakeholders on the means of implementation around SDG localization, provide technical insight on prioritizing and sequencing SDG related intervention in Bhutan.
During their stay in the Country, they will also facilitate sensitisation workshop on SDG localization for the Government agencies.
