Training Program on Diagnosis of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A (H5N1)

Five Day Training Program on Diagnosis of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A (H5N1) and Newcastle Disease, and FMD serum antibody at RLDC, Kanglung

Staff from National Centre for Animal Healh had conducted hands-on training for laboratory staff of Regional Livestock Development Centre, Kanglung on diagnosis of Highly Pathogenic Avain Influenza using real time (r) reverse transcription(RT) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and diagnosis of Foot-and-Mouth disease serum antibody using ELISA.

Besides disease diagnoses ELISA and real times PCR machines were installed, validated and staff trained on operation and maintainence of these machines.

 The training was conducted as

  1. Influenza A HPAI (H5N1) and Newcastle Disease diagnosis from May 3, 2013 to May 5, 2013, and
  2. FMD diagnosis on  May 6, 2013 and May 7, 2013.

This training should enable RLDC Kanglung for real time RT-PCR diagnosis of HPAI and NCD, and Foot-and-Mouth disease serum antibody detection using ELISA.
