19 January, Punakha. Council for RNR Research of Bhutan (CoRRB), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests in collaboration with Department of School Education (DSE), Ministry of Education is conducting a crash course on Integrated Farming to 20 school teachers from 10 Dzongkhags from today at College of Natural Resourses, Lobesa, Punakha.
The main objective of the crash course is to highlight the importance of school gardening and feeding for nutrition in schools. The integrated course will cover technical and practical trainings on vegetable and livestock production.
During the opening of the course, Dorji Wangchuk, Director General of CNR highlighted the importance of School Agriculture and the benefits of growing vegetables for nutritional supplement in the feeding schools. The course will equip the participants to take the lead roles as Focal Agriculture Teacher in their respective schools and communities.
The course is co-funded by World Food Programme and Royal Government of Bhutan to strengthen the Food Production and Nutrition Supplementation in School Feeding Programme and encourage the school children and youths towards agriculture career.
The course will end on 29 January, 2015.
