Training on Electric Fencing System

The National Plant Protection Centre (NPPC), Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests conducted seven-days “Hands on Training Program on Electric Fencing System” for core group at Kaba and Daba village of Nubi Geog under Trongsa dzongkhag from 17 – 23March, 2014. The main objective of the training program was to provide hands on knowledge and skills on Electric Fencing System (EFS) and its establishment to regional researchers of respective RDCs.

The training was also aimed at producing a regional core technical team who will establish and disseminate knowledge and skills on safe electric fencing system to various stakeholders in respective regions for crop protection and harmonizing human wildlife conflict without the practice of elimination or killing. Further, the training was also aimed at dissemination knowledge and skill on EFS to farmers.

The participants comprised of technical staff from NPPC, RNR-RDCs, dzongkhag agriculture and forest extension, Agriculture Machinery Centre and Bhutan Electricity Authority. The training program was organized with financial support from Royal Government of Bhutan and resource person support was provided by RNR-RDC, Yusipang and RNR-RDC Wengkhar.
