February 2-4, Phuentsholing: A total of 30 participants comprising of school focal teachers and principals from 17 schools are attending the training on Bhutan Phenology Observation. The training is organised by the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE), Bumthang as a part of the Himalayan Environmental Rhythms Observation and Evaluation Systems (HEROES) project.
The training is conducted with an objective to build capacity for the focal teachers taking part in phenology project. It is also a platform for the participants and the project coordinator to present their progress, discuss and find the solutions for the challenges faced while implementing the project in schools. The training also serves as a common platform for sharing information on climate change and its impact among scientists, researchers, educationist and citizens.
The Bhutan Phenology Observation program was initiated by UWICE in collaboration with Department of School Education in 2014. The objective of the program is to study the possible impact of climate change on phenology of selected species.
The project is funded by US based Karuna Foundation through Bhutan Foundation.
