November 7-10, Thimphu: The agriculture conference has been extended till today. During the conference, it highlighted to improve agriculture programmes implementation efficiency.
The Hon’ble Agriculture Minister, Yeshey Dorji chaired the conference. Participants included the Agriculture Director, Chief Executive Officer of FCBL, FMCL, Dzongkhag Agriculture Officers (DAOs) from 20 Dzongkhags, coordinators and senior officials from the Ministry.
Lyonpo during his opening remarks urged the DAOs to reflect the number of farm roads and irrigation channels constructed. He also highlighted seeds distributed for improvement of yields, measures taken to curve human-wildlife conflict and the ways they helped the farmers market their goods. In particular, he directed to translate the production figures into amount annually to help production enhancement.
The main focus of the presentation were on program implementation arrangements whereby they discussed the planned 11thFYP targets, resource availability and gaps, key challenges and ways focusing on commercialisation and intensification of field and horticultural crops, agriculture infrastructure, research and support services.
The conference provided a platform for the agriculture officials to reflect their achievements for the past three years of the planned period. Considering the achievements and experiences from the past years, it would help the officials to align their plans and activities to achieve the target set for the 11th FYP.
The conference will help everyone to continue to use innovative and usable knowledge and ideas through this forum and take back knowledge and ideas to Dzongkhags and agencies.
