3 December, Thimphu: Dasho Secretary, MoAF accompanied by the Director General, Department of Forests and Park Services paid a two day visit to Samtse Dzongkhag from 28 to 29 November 2018. The visit was to oversee the floral exhibition preparations for the 111th National Day Celebrations in Samtse. The delegation also visited the National Jersey Breeding Centre in the morning and the river surface collection sites at Dhamdum river site in the evening.
On the second day the delegation visited the commercial vegetable production sites at Pakpey under Tendu gewog. On the way back the team also visited Samden Coffee Plantation and nursery sites, Choeling Yargay Detshen (Ice Cream Factory) at Hangay in Tashicoling dungkhag. Dasho and the team also visited the Yoghurt Processing Centre at Yoeseltse. During the visit Dasho Secretary met and interacted with the farmer groups and extension officers. Dasho expressed his appreciation to all the RNR extension officials for having worked very hard under various conditions in realising the aspiration of His Majesty the King, of which realising towards the national goal of food self-sufficiency is of paramount importance to the country. In order to realise this aspiration Dasho time and again reminded all the officials that smart subsidies with adaptive innovations relevant to our conditions are essential instead of freebies.
