9 October, Thimphu: The Ambassador of Switzerland to Bhutan, Mr. Linus Von Castelmur called on Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, the Minister for Agriculture and Forests (MoAF).
Welcoming the Ambassador, Lyonpo thanked the Swiss contribution in the agriculture sector particularly in the coming up of the College of Natural Resources and in Phobjhikha, Zhemgang and Trongsa. He acknowledged that the impact has been tremendous.
Their Excellencies discussed on the community forest. Talking on the Ministry’s plan to use the forest sustainably, Lyonpo shared the on-going initiative, the National Forest Inventory which will collect comprehensive data and information on the state of forests in the country. Their Excellencies agreed that both countries share a beautiful partnership.
The Ambassador assured to extend constant Swiss support to the Ministry. He is in the country to sign the mutual visa exemption agreement with the Foreign Secretary to facilitate official travel between the two countries and strengthen contacts and cooperation. Switzerland is the 5th Country with which Bhutan has concluded such an agreement.
Bhutan and Switzerland would be celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations in 2015.
