December 4, Paro: The first batch of 15 students from the Technical Training Institute, Chumey joined the Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC) yesterday for a three month long farm machinery mechanic course under the newly developed programme.
They will be trained in the operation, repair and engines of power tiller and fabrication of simple farm machinery equipment during the OJT period. It is a flagship programme of AMC to impart them the skills and knowledge required for the technical backstopping of farm mechanisation programme. The trainees shall also be introduced to different loan schemes available by inviting officials from different banking institutions. They shall be supported and encouraged to setup workshops in their localities to support farm mechanisation by setting up hiring and repair units. This shall greatly support the end users especially farmers in availing timely repair and other services.
Besides, sixteen farmers from Chukha and Samtse joined the power tiller and post harvest training in AMC from December 4 for a period of 15 days. It is a collaborative programme with fund support from the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives.
