The National Centre for Animal Health, Serbithang, under Department of Livestock organized two days “Stakeholders’ Meeting on Essential Veterinary Drug Program” from 11th – 12th August 2014 and a one day “National Veterinary Drug Committee” meeting on 13th August 2014 at Hotel Holiday Home in Paro.
The meetings were conducted to discuss on issues related to veterinary drugs and streamline the strategies for procurement, distribution and management of veterinary drugs, vaccines and equipment in the country. The meeting also deliberated and agreed on the budgetary ceiling for procurement of medicines and its working modality in order to rationalize the distribution system and prioritize the requirements of drugs in the country. The meeting was attended by 41 participants from 20 Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Central Farms and Central Agencies under the Department of Livestock.
The 7th National Veterinary Drug Committee meeting was attended by 18 members and the deliberations and recommendations from the stakeholders’ meeting on EVDP were presented during the NVDC meeting for endorsement and further submission to the Department.
