Social Forestry Day 2017 Celebrated Across the Kingdom

2nd June, 2017: To commemorate the Coronation Anniversary of our beloved Fourth Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Social Forestry Day was celebrated today across the Country with the theme “Plant a tree today for your Child’s tomorrow.”

While the complete report is being compiled, from the preliminary reports received till 5 PM, more than 20,000 tree seedlings have been planted by the various field Divisions of the Department, involving Schools, Institutes, Local government and Community Forest Management Groups.

In Thimphu

In Thimphu, the event was celebrated at the Agro-forestry Project site in Samarzingkha. Led by the Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & Forests, more than 200 people, mostly officials from the various Agencies under the MoAF with few Volunteers from Early Learning Centre High School and Hotel Aman Kora, planted about 1500 seedlings of Walnut, Chestnut, Pear and Peach
