November 21-23: The Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo, Yeshey Penjor visited the agriculture offices in Thimphu and Paro accompanied by the heads and representatives from departments and non-departments. The visit started from the Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC) in Yusipang to understand their research and developmental activities.
During the meeting at Yusipang, officials from ARDC-Yusipang, BAFRA and Regional Pig Breeding Centre (RPBC) presented and shared their outcomes and achievements of 11th FYP, their developmental activities, constraints and challenges faced in addition to the programs and budget of 12th FYP.
Lyonpo also visited and interacted with staff of RBPC, National Dairy Development Centre (NDDC), National Food Testing Laboratory, Bio-gas Program, National Soil Service Centre and National Plant Protection Centre. They also shared similar challenges and constraints faced. Of many challenges highlighted, the shortages and limited budget mobility was the main problem shared by all. They requested Lyonpo to kindly look into the matter.
Speaking at the meeting, Lyonpo shared that with due support from everyone, he is keen to work towards solving issues and challenges faced by the Ministry. He also assured to look into the matter of farm roads access and surrendering policy of pool vehicles. He encouraged that we should join our hands together in achieving the goal.
On the second day, Lyonpo visited the National Biodiversity Centre followed by National Centre for Animal Health, National Veterinary Laboratory, Botanical Garden and National Mushroom Centre. They also presented their key mandates, achievements of 11th FYP, goals of 12th FYP, issues and the national key result areas to Lyonpo.
Lyonpo on the third day visited the National Post Harvest Centre followed by Agriculture Machinery Centre, Farm Machinery Cooperation Limited, National Seed Centre and the Agriculture Machinery Training Centre in Paro. They also shared their aims, objectives, issues, challenges, achievements and goals for 12th FYP.
The three day visit ended with a visit to the Regional Poultry Breeding Centre located at Khangkhu under Wangchang gewog which is 3km away from Paro town.
