Thimphu: The RNR Family celebrated the ‘Civil Service Award Day’ on December 11 at the NRDCL conference hall. This year, a total of 338 RNR staff was privileged to receive the awards in Lifetime and Dedicated Service categories.
Forty-one staff received the Lifetime Service Award for superannuating and serving the Tsa-Wa-Sum with clean service records.
A total of 297 staff received the dedicated service award for serving the Tsa-Wa-Sum with full dedication and loyalty. It is primarily based on the duration served in the civil service and has three categories where bronze medals are awarded for services of 10 years and above, silver for 20 years and above and gold medals for 30 years and above. Out of 297, 68 received gold, 70 received silver and 159 received bronze medals.
The Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo, Yeshey Dorji and the Agriculture Secretary, Dasho Rinzin Dorji awarded the medals and certificates. Lyonpo in his address expressed his heartiest congratulations to recipients and commended them for their significant role as civil servants. Dasho Rinzin Dorji shared that the award symbolises the recognition that His Majesty has to each and every one of us for the small contribution that we make to the nation building.
Also present at the ceremony were the heads from departments and agencies, Chiefs, Progam Directors and representative from the field offices.
The award was launched in 2013 coinciding with the 106th National Day. It comprises a medal and certificate signed by His Majesty which is now a annual feature.
