February 7, Thimphu: The Project Steering Committee meeting for the EU Technical Cooperation Project in Support of RNR Sector was held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF). The meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Secretary, MoAF and attended by the Project Steering Committee members comprising of the members of the RNR Gross National Happiness (GNH) Committee of the MoAF and one member each from Gross National Happiness Commission Secretariat and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The EU Delegation attended the meeting as a observer.
The meeting reviewed and discussed the implementation status of the key activities from May, 2017 till December, 2017. It was reported that despite several challenges and issues all the activities are on track. During the period around 13 contracts have been successfully signed varying in size and scopes.
One of the major issues discussed during the PSC meeting was on the utilization of a balance budget of approximately EUR 400,000. It was recommended that the amount be utilized to provide additional training or send additional people for training upon discussion and agreement with EU Delegation, GNHC and Maejo University.
The EU-Technical Cooperation Project in support of Renewable Natural Resources Sector is a project funded by the European Union to enable the Ministry, Royal Government of Bhutan to achieve its objectives for the 11th Five Year Plan particularly by enhancing the capacities of its employees both at the central and decentralised level.
The implementation phase for the project is from August, 2014 to August, 2019 with a total budget of Euro 4.6 Million.
