Pre-congress International Student’s Workshop for Emerging Ethnobiologists

27-30 May, 2014, Lobesa: The International Student’s Workshop is one of the Pre-Congress Events held every two years. This year the workshop was held at the College of Natural Resources, Lobesa from May 27 to 30, 2014. This workshop is intended to foster international connections between emerging ethnobiologists and to establish a support network of mentors around the world.

There are more than 30 participants from eleven different countries attending the workshop. The participants include five mentors and twenty-five students. The four day workshop will include a field trip to nearby villages and interacting with the local people.

Mr. Dorji Wangchuk, Director General of the College of Natural Resources was the Chief Guest with the Deans, Head of the Faculty and staff attending the opening session. The workshop is jointly organised by the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE) and the International Society for Ethnobiology (ISE) with fund support from the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTEFC).
