18 April, Thimphu: Hon’ble Director, Department of Agriculture (DoA) launched three books on Farm Machinery Standards in presence of Chiefs, officials from AMC and FMCL at DoA conference hall. The books are for power tiller standard, Walk Behind Power Reaper test code and standard. The books were launched with the objective to introduce safe and efficient farm machineries in the country.
AMC is mandated to ensure safe and efficient farm machinery use in the country. In line with this objective, Bhutan farm machinery standards are made under the guidance of the Bhutan Standards Bureau. Based on the set standards, AMC conducts tests on machines which are either manufactured inside the country or are imported and those machines whose specifications and features confirm to the set standards are then issued a certificate.
The standard and test codes of farm machines are continuously formulated and are endorsed at two levels, as a National Standard (BSB) and Ministry level Standard (MoAF).
Following this AMC has now active participation of the private sector enterprises by confirming the specifications and safety features of the machine and equipments being imported to the set standards.
