• Training on Irrigation Design & Management of Horticultural Crops

    UntitledA four-day training program on Irrigation Design & Management for Horticultural Crops is being organized in Thimphu from 19-22 May 2014 with the financial support from the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

     The training is being organized by the National Citrus Program, Horticulture Division, Department of Agriculture (DOA) in collaboration with the Engineering Division (DoA). According to Mr. Lakey, the ACIAR Bhutan Project Leader, the training is being put together as part of theongoing ACIAR Citrus Project “Adapting Integrated Crop Management Technologies to Commercial Citrus Enterprises in Bhutan and Australia”.

  • NEC Announcement: 50% of Illegal Waste Dumping Penalty for Informant as Incentive

    The National Environment Commission (NEC) Secretariat is pleased to inform all concerned that the Cabinet Secretariat vide letter no. C-4/370 dated 30 April 2014 has conveyed to NECS the Government’s approval to reward the informant of illegal waste dumping Fifty Percent (50%) of the penalty amount collected from the offender. The penalty amount on each type of offence in relation to littering and illegal dumping of waste can be referred to Annexure VII of the Waste Prevention and Management Regulations of 2012 available on the NEC Website at www.nec.gov.bt. This proposal on rewarding the informant is put forth strongly by the stakeholders so as to engage the general public in assisting the regulatory authorities that would ultimately lead to attaining a clean and waste free society as envisaged by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
