Neomicrocalamas andropogonifolia is a new bamboo species recorded for Sarpang. It was believed to be found only in Dewathang in Samdrujongkhar and Manus in Zhemgang (Flora of Bhutan 2000) until it was discovered in Chudzom, Jigmecholing and Dekiling geogs.

18-20 April, Lampelri: The opening of the third annual Rhododendron festival also marked to commemorate the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck was graced by the Hon’ble Agriculture Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji. The event was marked by an inauguration of the Environmental Education Centre. Lyonpo accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry also paid a visit to the Rhodo trial enjoying the bliss of beautiful blossoms of the Rhododendrons.
Bumthang: Yak rearing had been seen as one of the important activity of Narut community in Tang geog for sustaining livelihood in the past. However, with an initiation of agriculture development activities including livestock breed improvement program to increase production, yak rearing culture among the herders in Tang was totally diminished.There was a gradual shift from yak rearing to dairy farming with improved breed as it provides more advantages in terms of earning income and management aspects.
