    6 May 2015, Bumthang: The two-month nature guide training has begun at the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment. Interested tourist guides having cultural and trekking guide licences are attending the training. The main objective of the training is to provide an opportunity to create professional nature guides in the tourism industry.

    The trainees were welcomed by the Officiating Director, faculty and management staff of the Institute. “This training will be a small contribution from the Institute to the tourism industry of our country” said the Officiating Director in his keynote address.

  • MoAF Lyonpo meets with Principals of Central Schools

    Untitled30 April 2015, Thmphu: Currently Principals of 24 Central Schools are in Capital to attend the launching of Central School Programme. Taking opportunity of their presence in Thimphu, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests organised a meeting with them along with Officials of MoAF and MoE on 30 April 2015.

    The meeting was organised to discuss the plans and programmes for upscaling the School Agriculture Programme for supplementing food and nutrition requirement of students in Central Schools. His Excellency the Minister for MoAF, Hon’ble Yeshey Dorji, informed the participants that, upon the instructions of the Cabinet, the Ministry would like to strengthen and support the School Agriculture activities in Central Schools to supplement nutritious food to school children.

    21-27 April, 2015: A week long training workshop on ePest surveillance system was conducted by the National Plant Protection Centre (NPPC) at Semtokha from 21-27 April, 2015. More than 42 participants from RNR Research Development Centres (RDCs), Geog Extension Centres, NPPC, National Organic Program and Mountain Hazelnut Venture Pvt. Ltd. attended the program. The main objective of the training program was to build the capacity of the extension and research officers to carry out pest surveillance activities more efficiently through the use of the newly developed ePest Surveillance System.

  • Agriculture Commodities auctioned/exported in 2014

    The following quantities of different agriculture commodities were auctioned and exported to India and third countries amounting to a value of Nu. 2.65 Billion, in 2014. In addition, a total of around Nu. 390 millions worth of non-wood forest products were also exported which includes cordyceps, matsutake mushrooms etc. Except for the potato and vegetable auction data which were collected from FCB and Serzang Agriculture Marketing Services, all the data are from Bhutan Trade Statistics, 2014.
