• G2C database training underway

    In order to achieve an overall improvement in service delivery and farmers and client satisfaction the Department of Livstock (DoL), MoAF is undertaking enhancement of database systems. With the above objective, DoL has endeavored to implement an online service delivery system which will serve as a unified platform for farmers and client agencies for availing services and DoL officials for delivering the same with a significant reduction in turn-around time and farmers and client agencies inconvenience. This new database systems were developed through the technical and financial support of G2C office under the Prime Minister’s Office will transfer the livestock services provided to our clients in the country through digitalised services.

    The National Center for Animal Health (NCAH) under the Department of Livestock, (DoL) and Information & Commmunication Technology Division (ICTD) under the Ministry of Agriculture & Forests (MoAF) in collboration with NGN Technologies, Pvt. Ltd. Thimphu who developed the databases are conducting the trainings nation-wide. With completion of the training for the western region in April 2018, similar two days training (ToT) was conducted from 3-4th May 2018 in Gelephu for key focal livestock officials from West-Central and East-Central regions on the following newly developed livestock databases to strengthen livestock services.     Through the letter RCSC/HRMD/7/2018/5009 dated April 18, 2018, the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) conveyed its approval of the continuation of the Department of Agricultural Marketing & Co-operatives (DAMC) as a Regular Department under the Ministry of Agriculture & Forests (MOAF) to execute its assigned mandates; and the conversion of all approved positions under the DAMC from Contract Positions to Regular Positions.   • Red Panda Conservation Workshop

    May 1-3, Trashigang: Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary convened first ever Red Panda Conservation workshop at Druk Deothjung Resort with a theme, “Ensuring the future of Red Panda landscape through national and regional collaboration”.

    The workshop reviewed and discussed Red Panda research conducted in Bhutan to identify knowledge gaps, research needs and management strategies. It also shared experience and knowledge on Red Panda research and management interventions implemented in the region and simultaneously exploring trans-boundary conservation need and strategies. It further discussed ways to link Bhutan to wider international Red Panda conservation network for better funding avenues and enhance conservation of Red Panda in Bhutan. The workshop will help to prepare Red Panda Conservation Action Plan at landscape level and address research gap on Red Panda Conservation.
