June 7: BAFRA celebrates the first World Food Safety Day, the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2018 to celebrate every year. This International day is an opportunity to strengthen efforts to ensure that the food we eat is safe. Whether one produces, processes, sells, prepares or consumes food, one has a role in keeping it safe. The FAO/WHO and member states recognise that “Everyone has the right to safe, nutritious and sufficient food”.
BAFRA in collaboration with relevant agencies in the country is celebrating the event by creating awareness on food safety to highlight that everyone involved in the food systems has a part to play. World Food Safety Day messages, posters and aprons were circulated through websites and social media to reach the masses.
