• National level workshop on Land Degradation Neutrality held

    A50X8427July 26, Thimphu: To provide an overview on Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) concept , approaches and its working modalities, a national level workshop was held at Taj Tashi.

    Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests and the Global Mechanism of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification/Land Degradation (GM/UNCCD), the workshop also shared the outcome of the LDN experience in Bhutan, discussed how to leverage LDN from climate change impacts to green growth and poverty eradication. It further explored the financing opportunities and developed a way forward for LDN in Bhutan.

  • Notification on July 2017 Promotion

    This is to inform that about 225 officials have been granted promotion for 1st July 2017. The promotion consists of Specialist, Meritorious and Broad Banded categories. Out of this, 5 Civil Servants were granted Specialist Promotion while 2 Civil Servants have received Meritorious Promotion. In addition, 2 Civil Servants were granted promotion to P1 Position through open competition. Further, 216 Civil Servants were granted broad banded promotion by the Ministry as approved by the HRC under the decentralized category.

    This year in order to instill motivation and appreciate their outstanding contributions to the Tsa-wa-sum, the Ministry will be organizing one day ceremony for awarding of kha-Dhar to the promoted employees for July 2017 based in Thimphu (List attached) at NRDCL conference Hall on 28th July 2017 at 3.pm.

  • National Training for Wetland Managers underway

    A50X8255July 24-28, Thimphu: The Watershed Management Division, Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS) is conducting a five days National Training for Wetland Managers in collaboration with the Ramsar Regional Center- East Asia (RRC-EA) based in Republic of Korea. The participants include officials from all the Forest Territorial Divisions and Protected Areas.

    Wetlands constitute of water ecosystems that include lakes, marshes, vernal pools, peat bogs, fens, rivers & streams. Wetlands provide fundamental ecosystem services, such as water regulation, filtering and purification, as well as numerous scientific, cultural and recreational values within the watersheds. Wetlands are important for the maintenance of the broader ecosystem health.
