  • Annual Monitoring Workshop for AFACI Projects in Bhutan

    January 22, Thimphu: Based on the requirement of the funding agency, the annual monitoring workshop 2017 for the Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative (AFACI) projects in Bhutan was conducted. Participants included project Principal Investigators (PIs), Assistant National Contact Person and three independent evaluators consisting of M&E Officers from the Gross National Happiness Commission and Ministry’s Policy and Planning Division. It was chaired by the Hon’ble Agriculture Secretary.

    AFACI is an inter-governmental and multi-lateral cooperation initiated by the Government of Korea to promote sustainable agriculture growth in the asian region. Bhutan became the member of the AFACI in 2013 and today nine different projects are implemented through various agencies under the Ministry.

  • New AI centre in Sarpang

    January 22, Sarpang: Two new Artificial Insemination (AI) centres in Sershong and Chuzergang gewogs has been established jointly by the Regional Livestock Development Centre (RLDC), Zhemgang, Sarpang Dzongkhag Livestock Sector and National Dairy Research Centre, Yusipang.

    The centres are expected to benefit about 714 households owning approximately 2993 heads of cattle. They were established as a part of regional breed intensification program to meet the annual performance target of 8691MT of milk production set for the region’s 12th FYP.
