• His Majesty The King visits WOW farm in Tang

    Bumthang: His Majesty The King is on a Royal Tour of the central, eastern and southern parts of Bhutan to inspect the impact and works related to COVID19. The Prime Minister and the National Council Chairperson are accompanying His Majesty.

    His Majesty visited the Wobthang Organic Wonders (WOW) farm in Tang on July 7. The project, an initiative of Lyonpo Pema Gyamtsho was started in April 2020 with funds from the Prime Minister’s office to ensure food production in the country during pandemic COVID19.

  • AFoCO to help promote community forests and NWFPs

    8 July: The Gross National Happiness Commission (GNHC) and the Asian Forest Cooperation Organisation (AFoCO) signed a memorandum of understanding for the project title, ‘Sustainable Community-Based Enterprises for Improved Livelihood’ in presence of the implementing partner, Department of Forest and Park Services.

    The project aims to promote community forests and non-wood forest products (NWFPs) through community-based enterprises, develop alternative income sources for rural communities and enhance knowledge and technology on climate change adaptation through sustainable forest management.
