    The Social Forestry Day on 2nd June coinciding with the coronation anniversary of our beloved Fourth Druk Gyalpo is an important annual event for the Department of Forests and Park Services. As usual, this year too, the day has been widely celebrated across the country by planting tree saplings.

  • Statistics on electric fencing as of February 2018

    This statistical report is based on data provided by National Plant Protection Centre (NPPC) under the Department of Agriculture, MoAF. It presents the Dzongkhag level data on length in kilometres of electric fencing constructed in the rural areas, number of beneficiaries and area of land by type (dryland or wetland) brought under electric fencing by various actors including Department of Agriculture, Department of Forests and Park Services, Dzongkhags, various projects, and also to a lesser extent by some NGOs such as Tarayana and private land owners themselves.

  • Statistical release on School Agriculture Program (SAP) as of December 2017

    This statistical release is based on data provided by the School Agriculture Programme (SAP) under the Department of Agriculture (DoA), MoAF. SAP is a joint initiative of the MoAF and MoE. It started with six pilot schools in the year 2000 and now it has expanded to 303 schools in the country. Schools having SAP engage in agricultural activities by students within the school campus with the objective to improve kids’ nutritional requirements and also to inculcate farming as an alternative livelihood option in later life. By far vegetable growing is the most common activity under SAP but others such as egg production, pig rearing and mushroom cultivation are also carried out in some of the SAP schools. The DoA organises regular trainings for SAP focal teachers at College of Natural Resources and Rural Development Training Centre. SAP schools also receive input support such as tools, seeds, plastic houses, organic fertilizers etc

  • Statistical release on agriculture/horticulture inputs for Jan-Dec 2017

    This statistical release is based on the analysis of agriculture and horticulture inputs data sourced from National Seed Centre (NSC), Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC-Wengkhar), National Organic Programme (NOP) and National Plant Protection Centre (NPPC) for the period January-December 2017. Agriculture and horticulture inputs include seeds, seedlings, fertilizers and plant protection chemicals to enhance agriculture production. It presents the production of seeds & seedlings, import of seeds, Dzongkhag wise distribution of agriculture and horticulture inputs and the price list of inputs during January to December 2017 period.

  • Farm Machinery Technology display and field programme

    pariticipantsAgriculture Machinery Centre organized a farm machinery technology display and field program for technology that were generated within the 11th FYP to the farmers and private sectors who are into farm machinery business at AMC on 31st May, 2018. More than 70 participants gathered for the programme.

    The participants were explained about the new mandated of AMC like technology generation and dissemination, farm machinery standards and testing and the training of all stake holders. AMC explained about the new technology and also stressed on the importance of the standards and testing of new machines.field day demostration
