• Sanam Lyonpo meets extension staff and farmers in Bumthang

    Chumi7-8 August, Bumthang: The Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo and senior officials from the Ministry met with the extension staff and people of Chhoekhor, Tang and Chumey geogs. They discussed the ongoing agricultural activities and their challenges.

    Many farmers shared the case of frequent human wildlife conflict and requested the Ministry for electric fencing. The electric fencing program was started two years back and today it has gained popularity among farmers. It helps farmers to protect their crops from wild intruders without having to guard by themselves.

  • Sustainable Rangeland Management workshop to protect Red Pandas and Herders’ Livelihoods

    Untitled-1August 4–5, Trashigang: More than 30 participants representing the Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary, Regional Livestock Development Centre (RLDC) Kanglung, Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, geog administration Merak and beneficiary communities from Cheabling and Shetimey under Merak geog attended the annual review and planning workshop for Sustainable Rangeland Management to protect Red Pandas and Herders’ Livelihoods.

    It was held to review the past one year progress, address issues and align plans with the geog priorities. RLDC-Kanglung organised it with fund support from the Darwin Initiative Project.

  • Submission of Bio-Fertilizer/Soil Conditioner Demand for FY2018 -19 to NSSC

    In order to execute the Implementation Framework and Guidelines for Supply of Bio-fertilizers in the country to address the needs for organic production and set a system of procurement and supply, the National Soil Services Centre, Simtokha has been directed to procure and supply bio-fertilizers from the next cropping season. As such, the NSSC is in the process of compiling the bio-fertilizer requirements for the fiscal year 2018-19. Therefore, all Dzongkhags / RDCs are requested to submit your indents for bio-fertilizers/soil conditioners with NSSC before the end of January 2018.

    Please be informed that the demanded bio-fertilizers must be lifted on cash payment soon after you are notified on their availability at NSSC. Your indent may be submitted in the following format:
