• Enhancing public-private-partnership through cattle breeding

    Tsirang: Geared towards providing uninterrupted Artificial Insemination (AI) services to the general public under public-private partnership for cattle breed improvement and dairy development in the country, the early school leavers who are referred as  “Community based AI Technician” (CAIT) attended AI training in Barshong from 9-30 April. The intervention directly complements the objective of the Department of Livestock to enhance employment and income generation opportunities in rural areas.

  • Climate smart livestock production for youth entrepreneurship

    Zhemgang: The Regional Livestock Development Centre (RLDC), Zhemgang and Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Zhemgang organised a consultative meeting of stakeholders to identify  youth, form group and develop management plan for “Youth Entrepreneurship in Climate Smart Green Forage Production and Conservation for Sustained Livestock Productivity” in Shingkhar gewog.

    The project is being implemented to provide employment to youth residing idle in the gewog and ultimately mitigate rural-urban migration. The project is expected to achieve gainful youth employment in fodder and dairy production, utilise private barren and government reserve lands and enhance availability of forage crops for sustainable feeding and forage-dairy business.
