  • DoL releases Bhutan Journal of Animal Science 2018

    Coinciding with the start of 12th FYP, DoL has formally released Bhutan Journal of Animal Science (BJAS), Vol. 2, Issue 1, 2018, as a tribute to researchers from within and outside Bhutan and to acknowledge their contributions to animal science. This volume also has a paper from an Animal Breeder from Nepal Animal Science Research Institute (NASRI) under Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC). The Department of Livestock (DoL) is sharing journal copies with international agencies and institutes of SAARC countries.

  • Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo visit to Mongar and Lhuentse Dzongkhag

    On 13 July 2018 Lyonpo opened the farm road at Lagyel, Tshenkhar geog. The 2.86 KM farm road from Chendola to Lagyel was constructed through the support of RGoB (Nu. 1 million). It is expected to benefit nine households of Lagyel under Tsengkhar geog.

    On 17 July 2018, the Native Poultry and Heifer Breeding Centre at Sertsam in Lhuentse was inaugurated by HE the Sanam Lyonpo. The construction of various facilities such as the office building, dairy shed, staff quarters, among others, were jointly funded through RGoB, EU, GOI and BTFEC. Around Nu. 29.9 million have been spent as of June, 2018. The Centre was established with the main objective of conserving pure line native poultry and dairy breed, particularly Nublang, and to produce high quality indigenous heifer breeds.
