• Jomolhari Mountain Festival 2017

    The Jigme Dorji National Park in collaboration with Soe geog under Lingshi Drungkhag would like to extend an invitation to all interested guests for the annual Jomolhari Mountain Festival 2017. The festival, which will be held this year on October 14th and 15th, is a community-based initiative that has been organized by the Soe,Yaktsa,Nobri and Lingzhi communities, in collaboration with the Jigme Dorji National Park.

    The purpose of the festival is to raise awareness about snow leopard conservation, improve local community members’ perceptions of, and attitudes towards the endangered species, provide a platform for economic opportunities and sustainable livelihood. It is also a festive time when the highlanders come together as a community to celebrate their life and culture. At a national level, the festival has importance in retaining our highlanders to their communities which is of utmost importance in safeguarding our northern borders.

  • Inspiring Lhuentse Dairy Farmers for sufficient production of winter cattle feed

    Untitled-1September 1-3, Lhuentse: The Dzongkhag Livestock Sector along with 32 (23 females and 9 males) trained dairy farmers conducted a demonstration of chuff-cutter machines as a part of the awareness on fodder conservation technology.

    The program through chuff-cutter machines educated farmers on how to conserve locally available feed resources adopting ensilaging technique of feed conservation and thereby reduce the winter fodder shortages in the locality.

  • Lhuentse receives its first farm road construction machines

    Untitled-1September 2, Lhuentse: Lhuentse Dzongkhag Administration and Rabdey received a new Hydraulic Excavator and Back Hoe Loader each from the Central Machinery Unit, Bumthang as a part of the Government’s support towards the construction of rural agriculture road during the 11th FYP and beyond.

    The machines are expected to contribute to socio-economic development of Dzongkhag through improved accessibility and other agricultural development activities. They will be used to construct farm roads, agriculture land development, monsoon restoration and other emergency work.

    The Royal Botanical Park in Lampelri notifies the general public that throwing trashes from private cars, taxis, trucks, buses and dumping wastes of all kinds along the highway within the park jurisdiction and other areas is an offence as per the prevailing waste management Acts and Regulations. The park management requests all travelling between Thimphu and Punakha to cooperate in maintaining the park area always clean, safe and appealing for recreation. Cameras are placed at strategic locations for strict monitoring.
