• DoA website launched

    10 June, Thimphu: The Department of Agriculture (DoA) launched its website today in a simple ceremony. As the largest and the oldest technical department in the country, the department felt it only fitting to have a separate website, in particular to provide easy and rapid access to the wide range of services it provides.

    Besides the comprehensive information contained, the site is also expected to serve as an online repository hosting a series of publications that include advisory materials as well as legal and policy instruments associated with agriculture sector. It will also facilitate the effective functioning of the “agromet decision support system” the department is setting up. The webpage offers links to all major agencies within the department.

  • Training to enhance veterinary clinical services in east-central region

    10-12 June, Thimphu: Thirty six livestock field staffs comprising of 6 veterinary officers, 24 livestock extension agents and 6 laboratory technicians working in Zhemgang, Sarpang, Trongsa and Bumthang (east-central region) are attending a training on ‘Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for Veterinary Clinical Services’.

    The training is designed to standardise and perform veterinary clinical services in a consistent and correct manner across the country. The training will enhance technical skills and knowledge of field staffs to help them provide better quality of clinical veterinary services to pet/farm owners and ultimately enhance customer care services. The training follows a series of lecture modules and extensive hands-on practical sessions to test the SoPs and enhance the skills of participants in using these SoPs.
