8-9 September, Haa: More than 35 participants from 56 households of Longpa/Nobgang villages under Samar gewog attended hands-on-training on Organic Farming Technologies. The training was conducted by the Agriculture Research and Development Centre-Yusipang and ICIMOD as a part of the Resilient Mountain Solutions initiative.
Prior to the training, a team from ICIMOD briefed farmers on the preparation of organic manure and pesticides including the raw materials required. “Since all the required equipments and facilities are readily available, an organic farming is very convenient to do. But to have a successful national organic programme, there should be a common understanding between community people and government line agencies. There should also have multi-stakeholders involvement,” said Mr. Kamal from ICIMOD.
