25 October-7 November 2019, Mongar: The intensive cross cattle breeding program is a top priority for the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector of Lhuentse in the 12th FYP to achieve milk production baseline target of 1450 MT (2017) to 2000 MT (2023), self-sufficiency of dairy products and enhance rural livelihoods.
To fulfill the aspiration, the Regional Livestock Development Centre-Kanglung and the sector of eastern Bhutan is organising the artificial insemination (AI) refresher training course at Thangrong. The training is aimed at translating the healthier AI knowledge, develop skill of the fresh livestock officials and provide a refresher course to the existing AI technicians. “After availing the training, I will contribute my service towards achieving the objective of the cattle breeding program,” shared Sherub Thinley, the extension officer of Lhuentse. He hopes that the training will help participants to bring better performance of AI and intensification of crossbred cattle progenies for dairy farmers.
