29 July, Trongsa: The Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS) celebrated the 10th International Tiger Day at Nubi Gewog, Trongsa on 29th July 2020. This is the second time an International Tiger Day is being celebrated at Nubi Gewog, Trongsa. The Honorable Dasho Dzongdag, Trongsa Dzongkhag graced the celebration as a Chief Guest.
In his opening remarks, the Honorable Director, DoFPS stated the importance of tiger not only in Bhutan, but also in whole world and how respected and renowned we are when it comes to conservation of endangered species like tigers. The Director said, Trongsa region is a prime habitat for tigers and has good tiger number and as a result many human-tiger conflicts are witnessed in the region. He thanked the communities for supporting the conservation effort and mentioned the sacrifices these communities are making.
