• Lhuentse celebrates World Day to Combat Desertification and Land Degradation

    June 17, Lhuentse: The 17th June was observed world wide as World Day to Combat Desertification and Land Degradation fParticipants preparing frame for hedgerows plantationocusing on sustainable land management (SLM) as a way to regenerate economies and revitalise communities.

    The Dzongkhag Administration, Lhuentse also joined global society to mark the day with a theme ‘Land has true value. Invest in it’. It was celebrated in Lekpa village under Gangzur gewog which was identified to create a SLM Model Village. The day promoted public awareness on land degradation, national and global actions to combat desertification, land degradation and drought.

  • Tashiling Broom Grass and Agro-biodiversity Diversification Project launched in Tsirang

    June 17, Tsirang: Tsirang Forest Division observed World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought 2018 with a theme, “Land has true value-invest in it” by launching the Sustainable Cultivation of Broom Grass and Promotion of Agro-biodiversity Diversification Project at Tashiling Village under Shemjong gewog. The Chief Forestry Officer for Tsirang graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

    The Tashiling Broom Grass and Agro-biodiversity Diversification Project being launchedThe 32000 USD project was funded by GEF-SGP, UNDP Bhutan for 2 years and benefits 25 households directly and 92 Tashiling Community Forest Management group members in general. The project is managed by Tashiling Serekakthab Detshen covering 15 acres of Tashiling Community Forest Land.
