With due approval from the Royal Government of Bhutan, the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC) becomes the associate member of International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and joins the global cooperative family. The ICA is the apex body of the world’s cooperative movement which acts as the custodian and voice of the cooperative movement worldwide. It is a special support considered to Bhutan’s nascent cooperative movement by ICA which otherwise is rarely considered to government organization like DAMC. The Bhutan’s membership to ICA set a land mark milestone in our cooperative movement.
Bhutan’s Cooperative movement is expected benefit enormously from the ICA and its 271 member organizations around the world from 96 countries. The members of the ICA have the following specific benefits and privileges;

The Department of Agriculture, MoAF is an Implementing Agency of the Asian Development Bank administrated Grant Project funded by Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR 9146-BHU) for the Farm Roads to Support Poor Farmers’ Livelihoods. Therefore, the Department would like to invite the interested eligible National Consultancy Firms to submit the Expression of Interest to carry out the Project Endline Survey to measure the impact of the project by the farm roads in the project areas given below:

BidhoongGewog, Trashigang, July 3, 2013.The villagers, local government officials and civil servants of BidhoongGewog with the seedling support from Dzongkhag Forest Sector planted 3350 tree saplings for making the Gewog Green. The planned plantation program which could not be done on 2nd June 2013 to commemorate the Social Forestry day due to some urgent works of the public was done on the 23rd June, 2012 with involvement of all the people who stay in the Gewog. BidhoongGup, DorjiWangchuk, a former Forest Officer initiated the program by applying for free saplings from the Dzongkhag authorities in February 2013. The Gewog plans to continue such mass plantations in the near future. BidhoongGewog is the first Gewog who have done such a plantation involving everyone.
