September 29, Thimphu: The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests with support from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations conducted a RNR Statistics Committee Workshop to draft Strategic Plan on RNR Statistics (SP-RNRS) at the Tarayana Foundation Conference Hall.
The workshop discussed the outline and contents of the first-draft of the strategic plan for SP-RNRS and way forward process.
Mr. Kencho Thinley, the Chief for Policy and Panning Division (PPD) highlighted the importance of the process for SP-RNRS as an output reflected at the highest level at the Ministry and endorsed by all stakeholders. He urged the participants to render full support and participation to make the discussion on the draft SP-RNRS lively and fruitful.
The workshop was attended by 19 officials including representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, Department of Customs and Revenue, Regional Food Corporation of Bhutan, National Statistics Bureau, FAO Country Office and Regional FAO Office, Bangkok along with the officials from agriculture, forest, livestock, ICS and PPD.
In the closing remarks, Dr. Dalip Singh of FAO and the Chief thanked all participants for their active participation and valuable contribution. They urged the Committee members to continue their support and cooperation not only in the process of finalisation of the SP-RNRS but also during its implementation phase.
