Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests is pleased to notify all concerned Business Houses/Entities that Pest Risk Analysis (PRA) of Asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) has been accepted by the Department of Agriculture and Cooperatives under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, India.
Therefore, export of Asparagus from Bhutan under the category “Vegetable for consumption” will be allowed to India without any hindrances. However, the Exporter shall comply with additional Declarations and special Conditions/Requirements as under:
- Commodity shall be washed with clean water before packing.
- Commodity shall be free from quarantine weed seeds, soil and plant debris.
- Above conditions shall be incorporated into Phytosanitary Certificate (PSC) issued by the country of origin or, also for re-export.
This has reference to the Amendment of Schedule VI (Regulation of Import into India) of The Plant Quarantine Order, 2003 as published in The Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii) dated June 27, 2017.
