20 March, Thimphu: Ms. Azusa Kubota, the new Resident Representative (RR) of UNDP for Bhutan called on the Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo, Yeshey Penjor.
The call on also attended by the Agriculture Secretary, Dasho Rinzin Dorji discussed about the UNDP supported activities in Bhutan particularly related to climate change. Dasho highlighted the Ministry’s priorities in the 12th five year plan such as climate smart livestock activities and youth employment which is also one of the priorities for UNDP. The floor also discussed the human-wild conflict and how UNDP can contribute in such areas.
Bhutan being one of the important partners, Ms. Azusa Kubota assured that UNDP would extend its continued support to Bhutan while also serving as a global network from where she draws upon for ideas and resources.
The UNDP has been supporting Bhutan since 1973 to reduce poverty, enhance human development, environment and climate change areas besides energy, tourism and media. The country office in Bhutan was established in 1979.
