Nature Guide Course commenced

6 May 2015, Bumthang: The two-month nature guide training has begun at the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment. Interested tourist guides having cultural and trekking guide licences are attending the training. The main objective of the training is to provide an opportunity to create professional nature guides in the tourism industry.

The trainees were welcomed by the Officiating Director, faculty and management staff of the Institute. “This training will be a small contribution from the Institute to the tourism industry of our country” said the Officiating Director in his keynote address.

Dean of student and training affairs briefed the trainees on various teaching-learning facilities, hostel facilities, course curriculum, rules and regulation of the Institute.

The training includes both theory and field practical. It will be focused on the key identification techniques of plants, birds, animals and butterflies. After the training they are expected to become the first batch of professional nature guides of our country.
