Phuentsholing, 4-8 June: A five days national training workshop on compilation of Supply Utilisation Account (SUA)/Food Balance Sheet (FBS) is underway at Phuentsholing. FBS is a national accounting/statistical framework, presenting a comprehensive picture of the pattern of a country’s food supply during a specified reference period. It will provide important statistics that are crucial in making evidence-based planning and formulating policies.
The main objective of the training is to enable participants from relevant departments/agencies of RGoB, who are directly involved in food related data collection/processing to understand the concept of SUA/FBS and compute the FBS for Bhutan.
Participants from RNR Statistics Division, Department of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture Marketing and Cooperatives, Department of Livestock, Department of Revenue and Customs, National Statistical Bureau and Food Corporation of Bhutan Limited are attending it. Dr. Jitendra Singh Tomar from FAO-RAP in Bangkok and Mr. Tomasz Filipczuk from FAO-Rome are facilitating the workshop. It is supported by FAO as a part of the Global Strategy to Improve Agriculture and Rural Statistics initiative.
