Dendrochronology Field week underway at UWICE
A week-long “Dendrocronology fieldweek” is ongoing at Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE), Bumthang. The programme started from 30th October will end on 6th November 2011. The field week is being attended by 15 participants program from various institutes in the Country such as Sherubtse College, College of Natural Resources, Territorial divisions, Functional divisions, Research and Development Centres, Bhutan Trust Fund and UWICE
The main objective of the Dendrochronological field week is to introduce and practice the various methods of efficient collection, preparation, measurement and analysis of tree-ring information. Through this training the participants are expected to learn about the applications ofВ В В tree-ring methodology to understand the processes of the environment.
The Dendrocronology Fieldweek is being conducted by renowned experts in the field of Dendroecology from Columbia University, Stockholm University, and the University of Arkansas.
The experts include Dr. Edward R. Cook (Tree-Ring Lab, LDEO, Columbia University; Dr. Bjorn Gunnarson (Bert Bolin Climate Research School, Stockholm University); Dr.Dave Stahle (Department of Geography, University of Arkansas); Mr. Dan Stahle (University of Arkansas) and Mr. Paul В J Krusic (Department physical Geography and Quaternary Geology, Stockholm University).
