MoAF Minister visits three geogs under Chukha to inspect ongoing RNR activities

7-8 March 2015, Chukha Dzongkhag: The Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & Forests, Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Members of Parliament of Chapcha-Bongo & Phuntsholing Constituency, and Officials from MoAF visited the three geogs of Lokchina, Sampheling and Darla.

Public consultations were held in all the geogs to assess the status of ongoing programs and to mitigate problems confronting the communities. The Hon’ble Lyonpo said such visits would help in proper planning and for resource allocation. Lyonpo also invited comments and feedbacks on the issues pertaining to other ministries for further conveyance to the relevant ministries.

The most pressing issues highlighted in all the geogs were that of scarcity of water both for drinking and irrigation, pliability of existing farm roads and construction of new farm roads, besides the problem of sokshing ownership, census and inadequate health staff.

Besides the community consultations, Lyonpo and the team visited ongoing RNR activities such as private dairy farming in Pasakha and national calf rearing centre at Wangkha, Chukha.
