His Excellency, Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Minister of Agriculture and Forests, visited the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE) on 16 April 2014. His Excellency was welcomed by the Director and faculty members of the Institute.
The Director gave a presentation on the vision, mission and achievements of the Institute. His Excellency suggested that Bhutan should emphasise developing skilled eco-tourism guides. He advised the Institute to begin a basic ecotourism training program for fauna and flora. His Excellency also emphasised the Institute should continue its research on Bhutan’s timber problem and provide recommendations to the high-level decision makers.
His Excellency met with students at the Institute and concluded his visit with a tour of the construction site of the Madanjeet Centre for South Asia Forestry Studies.
