The Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC), Department of Agriculture (DoA), Ministry of Agriculture and Forest imported two units of Mitsubishi Mini Power Tiller MS88 in May 2015 to explore the effectiveness and efficiency of the machine in hilly areas. Weighing only 140 kilograms, the sample of medium size patrol engine power tiller was brought under pre-demonstration test at Agriculture Machinery Training Centre, AMC on 4th June 2015.
After the test, this machine was found to be effective and efficient while ensuring quality of performance in the field. Another added feature of the machine is that it can be handled and operated by a woman. The machine is being introduced to strengthen farm mechanization services to the farmers in high terrace and narrow field.
Such initiative was an outcome of the Rice Conference held in Bangkok last year which was attended by the officials from DoA. The machine will be taken for official demonstration in Trongsa and Trashigang where rice production and commercialization activities are being carried out.
The cost of the Mitsubishi Mini Power Tiller MS88 will be fixed after all required implements and safety equipment is confirmed.
