Lhuentse: To meet the objectives of producing clean milk for safe human consumption and to improve market value chain, the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector trained 25 members of Minjey dairy group including 17 females and 8 males on September 27. The processing of clean and quality milk rely on how farmers handle their cows while milking as well as on good management practices of cattle herd.
The training provided the farmers with hands-on training on clean milk production, types of milking techniques, theoretical session for milk and public health, scientific dairy management practices and processing of yoghurt production.
Sangay Peldon, a 25 years old and one of the school leavers from Minjey village shared that “Through training, I have learnt a lot on dairy management practices for production of clean and quality milk products.” She also learnt how to handle a milking cow, processing, packaging and the marketing strategies which were very practical and useful.
The Sector organised the training with fund support from CARLEP, Wengkhar. To strengthen the group activities, the Sector will soon provide additional training on book keeping and animal husbandry practices for all operational and non-operational dairy, poultry and fishery groups.
