The United Nations Convention to Combat Land Degradation (UNCCD) stipulates that the National Action Programs (NAP) to combat land degradation developed by the member countries need to be realigned to the UNCCD 10-Year Strategy (2008-2018). Therefore, the National Soil Services Centre (NSSC) as the Country’s Focal Agency for UNCCD, carried out the task of realigning the Country’s NAP developed in 2010.
The NAP was developed through extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders at all levels and the same procedure was followed in aligning it to the UNCCD 10 year strategy. With completion of the NAP Alignment exercise, the final draft NAP report is now being shared online for all stakeholders within and outside the Ministry of Agriculture & Forests for feedback before the report is finalized and submitted to UNCCD.
Combating Land Degradation is a cross cutting issue – cutting across many sectors and therefore NSSC would like to earnestly request all stakeholders to read the draft document and provide written feedback at the earliest possible – not later than 29th August 2014. Your feedback may kindly be forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
