Lobeysa: A week long integrated training course for 30 school teachers completed on January 27, 2017 at the College of Natural Resources (CNR), Lobeysa. It was conducted jointly by the Department of School Education (DSE) and CNR.
The training helps equip teachers of new School Agriculture Programme (SAP) member schools to manage school level SAP activities and also to train assistant focal teachers of Vegetable Go to School Project (VeGoTs) member schools. Teachers learn both the theory and practical of model vegetable garden development, mushroom cultivation, composting and livestock production. The World Food Programme (WFP) Bhutan also made a presentation on a new concept of developing integrated action plan of agriculture with school health and school feeding programme.
During the certificate awarding ceremony, both the heads of DoA and DSE MoE highlighted the importance of implementing the SAP in schools for various reasons such as awareness of self employment, supplementing food security and nutrition. The training was supported by VeGoTs SDC through Swiss Tropical Public Health (STPH).
This is an annual programme of SAP and so far about 330 school teachers have been trained at CNR with certificate courses.
