April 24-26, Haa: As a part of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s entourage, the Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo visited Samar, Gakiling and Sombaykha geogs under Haa.
The main purpose of the visit was to monitor the on-going activities and discuss work plan for the fiscal year 2015-2016. During the visit, Lyonpo handed over one power tiller each to gups and representatives of six geogs: Samar, Eusu, Katsho, Bjee, Gakiling and Sombaykha.
The distribution of power tillers is expected to reduce drudgery and enhance farming efficiency. Lyonpo reminded to beneficiaries to put the machineries at good use by abiding to the prescribed guidelines of the Ministry.
To operate the power tillers, the RNR staffs along with the geog Chairman and Tshokpas were directed to jointly draw-up the operational plan for the mobilisation of power tiller in respective geogs. ‘The operational plan must effectively deliver services in fair and transparent manner avoiding community discrepancies during the course of implementation,’ said Lyonpo. He informed the beneficiaries about the minimal hiring charges they need to bear, Nu. 1400 per day to cover minor maintenance and operators’ wages.
Lyonpo informed the gathering about the prioritised activities of the Ministry in the upcoming fiscal year which includes farm mechanisation to reduce the drudgery of farming activities; electric fencing to mitigate human wildlife conflict; and farm shop to ensure reliable source for farming inputs and outlet for farm products.
The Dzongkhag and geog RNR staff were also briefed on the Ministry’s plans and programs for the upcoming fiscal year.
